Together with acclaimed author Cate Kennedy, Amanda worked with the Royal College of Midwives Inc (in Bendigo) to collect the stories and edit this anthology to bring more visibility to the work of midwives.

Tales from the Blackboard - True Stories from Australian Nurses

This book has been positively reviewed in the Australian Book Review (Dec 1998-Jan 1999) and is regarded as a useful resource those studying teaching. It has also been on the HSC (English Standard) syllabus in NSW.

The political and social context is examined along with the key themes that emerge from the writings of the contributors.
