Video Production

Video is one of the most powerful ways to tell stories and is an essential part of any communications strategy.

Amanda has been involved in long and short form video production for more than a decade - before video-on-demand became hugely popular and before social media burst into our lives and changed everything.  In 2007, Amanda was part of the marketing team that used video to explain the University of Melbourne's transition to the "Melbourne Model".  This involved persuading powerful business and political figures to endorse the MM and supporting academics with their on-camera appearances.

While at Maurice Blackburn, Amanda was part of the team that introduced the concept of video communication to the firm, both as a way to communicate legal rights to clients and to profile the expertise and interests of its lawyers. This was groundbreaking in the legal sector. In 2011, very few law firms were using video except in TV advertising. At Melbourne Water, Amanda worked with the health and safety team to produce videos for staff.

In 2020, she completed a short course in online video content creation with the Australian Film Television and Radio School.

The HeLP initiative was launched in March 2014 at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. It provides free legal triage for patients who present with legal and health problems. I co-produced this video with colleagues at The Alfred and Monash University.

In 2014 I accompanied lawyers Maurice Blackburn lawyers Jacob Varghese and Katie Robertson who were representing asylum seekers on a visit to Christmas Island, where the largest group of Australian-born babies were then detained. This video was part of a campaign to ensure the release of babies from immigration detention. I shot footage and organised release of imagery rarely seen by the public.

Brain injury can have a devastating impact on your life and the lives of those around you. I co-produced this video as part of a Maurice Blackburn campaign to raise awareness about acquired brain injuries in our community.

Parents and a student in NSW reveal how teachers are using Gonski funding to give children the life-changing support they need. I co-produced this video while working at the Australian Education Union in 2016.

Gardening is a passion of mine and I regularly work with Sustainable Macleod to produce small videos. Here is Spring time gardening tip from Sustainable Macleod gardening expert Robin Gale-Baker.

People love instructional videos - the challenge is to keep them to less than 3 minutes!
